The head of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical Department, Austin Eguavoen, has expressed strong confidence that the Super Eagles will secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Nigeria will begin their World Cup playoff campaign on Thursday in Morocco, where they are set to face the Panthers of Gabon in the first leg of the semifinals.
Eguavoen, a former Super Eagles defender who represented Nigeria at the 1994 and 1998 World Cups, believes the current squad possesses the quality and mentality to rise to the occasion.
“These boys that I know, that I have worked with, want to go to the FIFA World Cup,” Eguavoen told nff.com. “The aspiration of every professional footballer is to play at the World Cup and enhance their market value.”
He added that the players are fully aware of the expectations of millions of Nigerians and are determined to make the country proud.
