Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has commended Nasarawa United Football Club for their impressive showing in the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League following a Christmas courtesy visit by the team.
The Governor received a delegation from the club on Thursday at his hometown of Gudi in Akwanga Local Government Area, where he praised the Solid Miners for consistently challenging at the top end of the league table.
Governor Sule expressed pride in the club’s performances, noting that their position among the top two teams in the NPFL has brought honour and recognition to Nasarawa State.
He described Nasarawa United, alongside Nasarawa Amazons and second division side Basira FC, as worthy ambassadors of the state, adding that their positive image continues to attract admiration both within and outside Nigeria.
The Governor revealed that he follows the team’s progress closely through regular match updates and media reports, stressing that discussions around sports at national gatherings often place Nasarawa United in the spotlight.
He also applauded the supporters’ clubs for their unwavering encouragement, which he said has played a vital role in the team’s strong form this season.
Reaffirming his commitment to the club, Governor Sule donated bags of rice and cash to the players and officials to support their Christmas celebrations.
Leading the delegation, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, thanked the Governor for his sustained support, describing it as a major driving force behind the club’s recent success.
Yakubu also acknowledged the Governor’s provision of brand new official vehicles for the club’s management and technical adviser, stating that the gesture has improved operations and boosted morale within the team.
Several members of the club’s management, technical crew and playing staff were present during the visit, including Team Manager Adamu Musa Galle, Board Members Musa Usman Oruma and Yakubu Buhari, Technical Adviser Mangut Mbwas, Team Captain King Osanga, and Director of Media Eche Amos.
Second-placed Nasarawa United will resume league action on Sunday when they travel to Kano to face Kano Pillars on Matchday 19, before the league goes on its mid-season break.
