Mokwena Claims First Algerian Trophy as MC Alger Edge USM Alger

Rulani Mokwena has won his first major honour in Algerian football after guiding MC Alger to a narrow 1–0 victory over fierce rivals USM Alger in the Algerian Super Cup final.

The highly charged Algiers derby lived up to its billing, delivering tension, intensity and passion before a late goal settled the contest in MC Alger’s favour.

Mokwena, who took charge of the club earlier this season, masterminded a disciplined performance as his side withstood sustained pressure before striking decisively to claim the trophy.

The win marks a significant milestone for the South African coach, who continues to enhance his reputation in North African football following his success on the continent.

MC Alger’s triumph further underlined the magnitude of the rivalry between the two Algiers giants, with the Super Cup final once again showcasing why the fixture remains one of Africa’s most fiercely contested derbies.
