The Nigeria Women Football League has fined Osun Babes FC ₦2.5 million following regulatory breaches that led to the non-commencement of their 2025/2026 Premiership fixture against FC Robo Queens in Lagos.
The match, scheduled for Wednesday, 18 February 2026 at Onikan Stadium, failed to kick off after Osun Babes, listed as the away side, did not provide an alternative set of jerseys despite a confirmed colour clash with the home team.
Match officials subsequently declared a walkover in favour of FC Robo Queens in accordance with league regulations.
The League ruled that Osun Babes breached Article 10.3 of the NWFL Regulatory Framework, which mandates clubs to use second-choice colours for away fixtures to resolve colour clashes. Article 10.5 further requires the away team to switch to alternative colours if the home club appears in its registered first-choice kit.
The failure to honour the fixture without force majeure or acceptable justification was also deemed a violation of Article 14.7.
As a result, Osun Babes were fined ₦1,000,000 for the jersey infringement and ₦1,500,000 for failing to fulfil the fixture, bringing the total sanction to ₦2,500,000.
NWFL Chief Operating Officer Modupe Shabi said the decision underscores the League’s commitment to professionalism and regulatory compliance.
“Our regulations are clear, and all clubs are expected to meet their obligations fully. These measures are necessary to protect the integrity and credibility of the NWFL,” Shabi said.
The League reiterated its commitment to discipline, fair play and the orderly conduct of matches, reminding all Premiership clubs to adhere strictly to operational and regulatory requirements.
