Nasarawa United’s ambition of a six-game unbeaten streak ended in a 1-0 defeat to Katsina United at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium on Sunday.
Coach Mangut Mbwas described the result as “one of the days to forget in a hurry.” He acknowledged that the team was not as compact as needed and admitted that Katsina United capitalised on a rare opportunity.
“Not what we came here for. However, it’s one of the days to forget in a hurry,” Mbwas said. “We weren’t that compact in our approach to today’s game, even though we had our chances. The opponents took advantage of the slim chance that came their way, even though only the referee could decide whether the whole ball crossed the goal line. It’s a tight call.”
Despite the setback, Mbwas stressed that the team remains focused on their objectives. “Nonetheless, we remain focused on our set goals, and we will regroup to reclaim our top-of-the-table status in our subsequent games,” he added.
Nasarawa United now return to Lafia ahead of their home clash with Bendel Insurance on 22nd February, before travelling to face Rangers International on 1st March.
