Mauritius FA President and CAF Executive Committee member, Samir Sobha, has acknowledged that Morocco were treated unfairly in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.
In an exclusive interview with The Guardian, Sobha called on the Moroccan Football Association to forgive the incident.
“I want to plead with the Moroccan FA to forgive us for the injustice done to them. The rules have not been respected. They were robbed. After the Senegalese team left the field, all the players should have been sanctioned with a yellow card,” Sobha said.
He added that while the result cannot be changed, recognition of the unfair treatment is important. “I’m not saying we should not give the trophy to Senegal. What has happened has happened already. But we should put our ego aside and agree that an injustice has been done to the Moroccan national team.”
The comments are likely to reignite discussions about refereeing standards and rule enforcement in African football.
