The Government of Senegal has formally rejected the decision by Confederation of African Football to strip the country of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title and award it to Morocco.
In an official statement, Senegalese authorities described the ruling as unfair, shocking and unacceptable, insisting that their national team secured victory legitimately on the pitch.
The government further argued that the decision undermines the credibility of African football, raising serious concerns about governance and transparency within the continental body.
Senegal has called for an independent international investigation into the matter, including the possibility of corruption surrounding the ruling.
Authorities also confirmed plans to challenge the decision legally at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, signalling a prolonged dispute over the outcome of the tournament.
The government reiterated its commitment to defending the honour of the national team and restoring what it maintains is a rightful triumph.
