Head coach of Akwa United, Paul Offor, has urged his players to remain focused and clinical as they prepare for their Nigeria National League Matchday 13 encounter against Osun United.
Offor delivered the message during the team’s final training session in Uyo before travelling to Osun State for Saturday’s clash at the Landeleke Township Stadium in Ilesa.
Akwa United currently sit top of the Conference B table with 25 points from 12 matches, holding a four-point lead over their closest challengers.
The coach stressed that the remaining matches of the season will be decisive and warned his players against complacency.
“The remaining six matches are very crucial for us and we cannot afford to be complacent. We must remain focused and ensure we make the most of our chances,” Offor said.
“We are not yet where we want to be, and we have to sustain our current momentum by showing consistency in our performance.”
Offor also urged his team to approach each game with the urgency of a final.
“We have reached a stage in our campaign where we must approach every match like a cup final. We cannot gamble with our chances. We must be fully prepared to fight and win together because our objective is to finish the season strongly.”
Akwa United have recorded eight wins, one draw and three defeats from their opening 12 matches this season.
The Promise Keepers defeated Osun United 1–0 in the reverse fixture in Uyo and will be aiming to complete a season double when both sides meet in Ilesa.
Saturday’s Matchday 13 encounter is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 pm, with live updates expected on the club’s social media platforms.
