Chairman of Osun United, Gbenga Ololade Oriowo, has rallied the team ahead of their crucial home game against Akwa United in the Nigeria National League (NNL). Speaking after a routine training session, Oriowo praised the players for their recent performance in Abakaliki.
"You really surprised everyone with that win in Abakaliki. The way you played was mind-blowing, and I am proud of each and every one of you," he said. Midfield star Sodiq Obisesan secured the victory with a late stunner in the nail-biting away fixture.
Oriowo urged the squad to maintain their momentum. "We are not comfortable with where we are, and we need to respond with every game in the second half of the season. Carry on with the same spirit."
Vice Chairman Ayo Odidi echoed the sentiment, reminding the team of the importance of focus ahead of Saturday's encounter. "You made the state proud in Abakaliki, but we cannot rest on our laurels. We must create opportunities and build on this momentum," he said.
Team captain Mojeed Abimbola assured supporters of the squad’s determination. "Irrespective of any circumstances, we will give our best and make everyone proud," he stated.
With morale high, Osun United are preparing to host Akwa United in Ileogbo, aiming to extend their points tally, currently standing at 14, and make a statement in the second half of the NNL season.
