Nasarawa United returned to winning form with a convincing 3-0 victory over Warri Wolves in a Nigeria Premier Football League match-day 35 fixture played at the Lafia City Stadium on Sunday evening.
The Solid Miners dominated proceedings in a game played behind closed doors due to a two-match fan ban imposed by the NPFL organisers. A minute's silence was observed in honour of the late former NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima.
Nasarawa United broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute when Chimezie Victor converted a penalty after John Joshua was fouled in the box. Substitute Ngei Oluka-Efor doubled the lead in the 62nd minute with a powerful strike, assisted by Mancha Sabbath.
Phenomenal midfielder Habibu Alakija, who was later named Man of the Match, sealed the win in the 74th minute with a superb header from Ifeanyi Okechukwu's assist, leaving Warri Wolves goalkeeper Joke Efeverha with no chance.
The result ended a run of three consecutive defeats for Nasarawa United, who remain in sixth position with 53 points. Warri Wolves dropped to 17th place with 43 points.
