‘We Will Keep Fighting’ — Suleiman Reacts to Kwara United’s Crucial Win

Kwara United head coach Ashifat Suleiman has praised his side’s fighting spirit following a dramatic 1-0 victory over Nasarawa United in Matchday 32 of the Nigeria Premier Football League on Saturday.

A stoppage-time penalty from Abdulsalam Abdulsalam secured all three points for the Harmony Boys at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, strengthening their push to avoid relegation.

Kwara United dominated large spells of the contest, creating several chances in the first half through Bright Babatunde and Ibrahim Yahaya, but were denied by a disciplined Nasarawa United defence.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Kwara United controlling possession while Nasarawa United threatened on the counter. Junior Aimufua came close in the 56th minute but failed to convert a one-on-one chance.

Johnmark Aule also went close midway through the half, only to be stopped by an impressive save from the Nasarawa goalkeeper.

The breakthrough eventually arrived deep into stoppage time when Issa Gata won a penalty after being fouled in the box. Abdulsalam stepped up and converted calmly in the 90+3rd minute to seal a crucial victory.

Reacting after the match, Suleiman highlighted his team’s determination as key to the result.

He said the team would continue to work hard to secure their league status, describing the win as an important step in their survival bid.
