The decision of the NFF O&D Committee to overturn the Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) sanction against Cynosure FC has sparked serious debate and raised important questions about the credibility and consistency of football administration in Nigeria.
At the heart of this controversy is the case of Valentine Chizoba Ogbodo, whose official records appear to show that he was registered with Osun United FC for the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
The attached official NNL Player's Licence identifies Valentine Chizoba Ogbodo as a registered player of Osun United FC, under Licence No. NNL/2025/2026/OUF/052, with his contract running until 2 February 2027. The licence also states that his previous club was Cynosure FC.
In addition, the attached official Osun United matchday squad shows Valentine (Jersey No. 12) listed among the substitutes for the Nigeria National League fixture against Godswill Akpabio United FC on 14 February 2026, confirming his involvement with Osun United during the NNL season.
These official documents have become central to the controversy because the NLO had sanctioned Cynosure FC over the alleged fielding of an ineligible player. With these records now in public view, many stakeholders are asking why that sanction was later overturned by the NFF O&D Committee.
Football is governed by rules, and those rules must apply equally to every club, regardless of influence or status. Whenever official documents appear to conflict with the outcome of a disciplinary decision, the football community deserves a clear, detailed, and transparent explanation.
The integrity of Nigerian football depends on public confidence in its institutions. Every decision of an O&D Committee should be based on the facts, the regulations, and the evidence placed before it. Where questions remain unanswered, they naturally fuel speculation and erode trust in the system.
The attached documents speak for themselves. Nigerian football stakeholders deserve to know how these records were assessed and the legal basis upon which the NFF O&D Committee overturned the NLO's decision against Cynosure FC.
