Ebah Redemption Earns Nasarawa United Derby Victory

Harrison Ebah completed his redemption story as Nasarawa United defeated Niger Tornadoes 1-0 in a North Central derby at the Lafia City Stadium on Sunday.

Ebah, who scored an own goal in Nasarawa United’s 1-1 draw against Rivers United last weekend, struck in the 20th minute with a stunning long-range effort to secure all three points for the Solid Miners.

Speaking after the match, Nasarawa United assistant coach Daniel Nor described the encounter as an intense and competitive rivalry, while admitting that the team still has vital points to recover.

“To God be the glory, we have the three points, even though we are not comfortable because we have lost some couple of vital points. However, I believe we will recover, beginning from our next game,” Nor said.

Niger Tornadoes technical adviser Kabir Dogo congratulated Nasarawa United and attributed his side’s defeat to a lapse in concentration.

“Both teams did very well, but my team lost concentration, and were punished by United,” Dogo said.

Ebah, who was named Man of the Match, said he was confident he would score when the ball fell to him outside the box.

“I was confident I would score when the ball bounced towards my position,” he said.

The defender also set himself a target of scoring five goals this season as Nasarawa United push for a continental ticket.

The victory moves Nasarawa United to 13th place with seven points, while Niger Tornadoes drop to 17th.

The Solid Miners will face Shooting Stars in Ibadan next weekend.
