Barau Football Club forward, Adamu Ibrahim, was named Man of the Match by the Kano State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) after a standout performance in his side’s 2-1 victory over Wikki Tourists on Matchday 11 of the 2024/2025 Nigerian National League (NNL) season.
The match, held at Dambatta Stadium in Kano, saw Ibrahim open the scoring in the 31st minute, finishing off an assist from Sugau Aliyu to register his second goal of the season. Wikki Tourists quickly responded, with Wonderson netting the equalizer in the 37th minute.
Barau FC regained the lead just after the break, as Sai’du Salisu converted a penalty in the 47th minute—his third goal of the campaign—sealing the win for the Kano-based side.
The victory keeps Barau FC firmly in the promotion race for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), as they now sit second in the NNL Southern Conference C with 18 points from 11 matches.
Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, lauded the team for their spirited performance and vital win against a strong Wikki Tourists side.
Barau FC will next travel to face Mighty Jets of Jos on Matchday 12. A point from the fixture will be enough to confirm their spot in the NNL Super Eight.
