NPFL: Sunshine Stars Suspend Ibrahim Suraju Over Disparaging Remarks

Sunshine Stars have suspended midfielder Ibrahim Suraju following a viral video in which he made inappropriate remarks about the club.

The Akure-based side, recently relegated from the Nigeria Premier Football League after a 2-1 defeat to Niger Tornadoes, announced the suspension in an official statement. The club condemned Suraju’s comments, calling them a violation of its core values of discipline, respect, and professionalism.

“We do not intend to be unnecessarily harsh on any of our hardworking players,” the statement read, “but we will not tolerate any form of indiscipline from individuals whose actions do not reflect the values and intentions of the Owena Whales.”

Sunshine Stars have launched an internal investigation into the incident and reiterated the importance of maintaining standards, especially during difficult periods.
