Gov. Dapo Abiodun Applauds NPFL for Aligning Season Calendar with Global Leagues

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has commended the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for successfully aligning its calendar with that of major global leagues.

The governor expressed his appreciation while receiving a delegation from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), led by President Ibrahim Gusau and NPFL Chairman Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, during a courtesy visit in Abeokuta. The delegation was in town to celebrate the official presentation of the 2024/25 NPFL trophy to Remo Stars.

Abiodun noted that the current NPFL season will conclude in May, mirroring the timeline of top European leagues—a development he described as highly commendable.

"With just one game left and Remo Stars already crowned champions, it’s impressive that the league ends this May, just like most European competitions," he said.

The governor also praised the NPFL board for organizing a smooth and crisis-free season that produced a deserving champion.

"It is to the credit of the NPFL Board, led by my brother, Hon. Elegbeleye, that we had a successful season and a well-deserved title celebration for Remo Stars," Abiodun added.

Also present at the event were NFF board members Ganiyu, Aisha Falode, and Silas Agara.
