Ibom Angels Edge Delta Queens to Reach Federation Cup Quarterfinals

Ibom Angels FC have booked their place in the quarterfinals of the 2025 President Federation Cup after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Delta Queens FC on Saturday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

Ugobest Osuji converted a penalty in the 39th minute to hand the Orange Ladies a crucial victory, marking another step forward for the two-time Federation Cup finalists, who are aiming for a strong finish after missing out on the Super Six this season.

The team showed composure across all departments, with goalkeeper Godstime Dickson making key saves, and midfielders Mirian Okocha, Osuji, and Wami Georgline — later replaced by Dianabasi Jumbo — controlling play in the middle of the park.

In attack, captain Abasiofon Uwah, Ijeoma Onweangba, and substitute Ayishat Raheem kept Delta Queens’ defense — made up of Paul-Ben Ayebapreye, Godsgift Afigbediat, Helen Daniel, and Eyitemi Omagbemi — under constant pressure.

Osuji’s goal brings her tally in the tournament to two, while Uwah leads with six goals, followed by Onweangba with five. Raheem and Victory Jacob have two goals each, and Omagbemi has one.

Ibom Angels now await their quarterfinal opponent as they continue their quest for a maiden Federation Cup title.
