Two Nigerian brothers, Zion and Zebedee Kennedy, are making headlines in Swedish football with their impressive performances at the GIF Sundsvall Academy. Born in Sweden to Nigerian parents from Edo State—Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Elvis Kennedy—the duo has attracted attention as promising prospects for the future of football.
Zion Kennedy, 17, plays as a central defender and recently signed a three-year contract with GIF Sundsvall following standout performances. His younger brother, Zebedee Kennedy, 15, a striker like their father, has earned a trial with Swedish Premier League leaders, Mjällby. Both brothers joined Sundsvall Academy at age six and have progressed steadily through the ranks.
Their father, Bruce Elvis Kennedy, a former striker for Golden Academical and Esan United in Nigeria, also had stints with Italian lower division clubs such as Ponteroca FC, PH Calcio, and Pioppe FC before retiring in 2020. Speaking from Sweden, Bruce expressed pride in his sons' development and praised the staff at GIF Sundsvall Academy for their dedication.
