Bendel Insurance Football Club will resume activities on Sunday, June 22, 2025, ahead of the upcoming 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season scheduled to kick off on August 22.
According to a club circular signed by Secretary Charles Ihimekpen, the team’s first training session will hold on Monday, June 23 at 8:00 AM. The players and technical crew had proceeded on a one-month break following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season on May 25.
In a show of solidarity ahead of the new campaign, the club’s Supporters’ Club, led by Chief Osadolor Ogiefa, has reaffirmed its commitment to the team. Speaking during a joint meeting with the technical crew in Benin, Chief Ogiefa praised the club’s remarkable turnaround last season.
“No one gave us a chance, but Coach Greg Ikhenoba and his team took us from the relegation zone to a top-five finish. It was a remarkable feat,” said Chief Ogiefa. “We will continue to support the team through thick and thin and urge the technical crew to maintain teamwork and recruit disciplined players who can fight for the badge.”
Ogiefa also expressed confidence that with the right additions and unity of purpose, the Benin Arsenals can aim for a podium finish next season.
Head Coach Greg Ikhenoba, in response, appreciated the support from fans and the Edo State Government, describing Bendel Insurance’s supporters as the best in the country.
“The support we received, especially during the tough times, was overwhelming. We were close to qualifying for a CAF competition, and with continued support, we’ll go even further next season,” said Ikhenoba.
With resumption around the corner, the club looks to build on its strong finish from last season and begin the new campaign with renewed ambition.
