Sokoto United Football Club has received national recognition after being named the Most Behaved Team in the Nigeria National League (NNL) for both April and May 2025.
The prestigious awards were presented during a ceremony held at the West Point Hotel, Wuse Zone 7, Abuja. Organised by the NNL leadership to reward outstanding conduct and professionalism in the league, the event featured top dignitaries including NFF President and WAFU B Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau; the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Football Development; NNL Board Chairman, Chief George Aluo; COO Danladi Bako Alanana; CEO Emmanuel Attah; and the FCT FA Chairman, among other key stakeholders.
Sokoto United stood out among all participating teams, securing both monthly awards in succession — a testament to their consistency in upholding discipline, sportsmanship, and professionalism throughout the season.
The awards were received on behalf of the club by Head Coach Mr. Peter Ajeni and Media Officer Mr. Abdulsalam Ibrahim Imam.
Speaking at the event, Coach Ajeni expressed appreciation to the NNL for recognising the club's commitment to fair play. “This double honour is not just a recognition of how we play the game, but of who we are as a football institution,” he said. “We are proud to represent Sokoto State with dignity and we dedicate these awards to our fans, management, players, and all stakeholders who make this journey possible.”
Media Officer Mr. Imam added that the awards will inspire the team to maintain high standards both on and off the pitch as they continue their push for promotion.
Sokoto United remains focused on their NNL campaign, aiming to build on this off-field recognition with on-field success as the season progresses.
