Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali laid both of his parents to rest on Friday in his hometown of Egbema, with notable figures from the Nigerian football community in attendance.
Nigerian football legend Kanu Nwankwo was present at the funeral, standing in solidarity with Nwabali during the emotional ceremony. Kanu's appearance was a strong gesture of support from one of the most respected names in African football.
Also in attendance was Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie. Her presence, alongside Kanu’s, highlighted the unity within Nigerian football as players came together to support one of their own.
The ceremony drew heartfelt reactions across the football world, as tributes poured in for Nwabali's parents and messages of encouragement were sent to the Chippa United shot-stopper.
As Nwabali navigates this moment of personal grief, the support of his peers continues to be a source of strength.
