In a major boost for grassroots football in Nigeria, leading sports brand PROSTAR has thrown its support behind the final of the 2025 Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament, widely known as the Prosperity Cup.
The tournament, now in its seventh edition, has grown into the country’s largest grassroots football competition, drawing teams from male, female, and para-soccer categories. With a record ₦50 million prize pool, it continues to serve as a platform for discovering and nurturing football talent in Bayelsa State and beyond.
Confirming the development, the tournament’s Director General, Ono Akpe, revealed that FIFA-certified Prostar match balls — already in use in the Nigeria National League (NNL), Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), and the nation’s Women’s League — will be used in the Prosperity Cup final.
“The involvement of Prostar is another big boost for the tournament ahead of the final,” Akpe stated.
Paul Obiakor, CEO of Zenith Sports, expressed enthusiasm over their participation in the competition, commending Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri for his commitment to sports development.
The Prosperity Cup continues to play a vital role in uniting communities and giving young athletes a platform to shine, with PROSTAR’s involvement adding further credibility to its growing status.
