General Manager of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Dimeji Lawal, has expressed strong optimism about the future of the Ibadan-based club under the leadership of newly appointed Executive Chairman, Honourable Taiwo Lekan Salami.
In his first official reaction since Salami’s appointment by Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, Lawal, popularly known as Kabongo, praised the governor for making what he described as a fitting choice.
“I want to appreciate His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, who has always shown commitment to restoring the glory days of Shooting Stars,” said Lawal. “The appointment of Honourable Babatunde Olaniyan Akoro as immediate past chairman brought positive change, and we now look forward to even greater progress under Honourable Taiwo Lekan Salami.”
Lawal, a former player of Femo Scorpions, Julius Berger, and Shooting Stars, described Salami as a capable leader with deep roots in football, politics, and business.
“Honourable Taiwo Lekan Salami comes from a football-loving family with a strong reputation. He understands how a professional club should be run, and the name 'Lekan Salami' carries enough influence to attract the right opportunities,” he noted.
He added that the new chairman has already hit the ground running and possesses the drive needed to elevate the club both locally and internationally.
“With his network and experience, I believe it's a new dawn for this great club. Honourable Salami has shown that no hurdle is too high to overcome if the will is there,” Lawal told 3SC media.
Looking ahead to what he believes will be a successful era, Lawal called on all stakeholders to rally behind the new chairman to help return 3SC to its rightful status in Nigerian and African football.
“With united support, this club can rise again, not just domestically but across the continent,” he concluded.
