Kano Pillars are reportedly closing in on a sensational move for Imama Amapakabo, with personal terms said to have been agreed between both parties.
If finalised, the deal would see Imama become one of the highest-paid coaches in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), a major statement of intent from the Kano-based club ahead of the new season.
Imama, who signed a two-year deal with Abia Warriors last season, still has one year remaining on his contract. However, his absence from the club’s ongoing pre-season camp in Uyo has fuelled speculation about an imminent exit.
A source within Abia Warriors expressed concern over the situation, especially with the club set to compete on the continental stage following their qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup.
“We fear the worst. He has not resumed with the team, and the uncertainty is affecting preparations,” the insider said.
Kano Pillars, who are also in the market to strengthen their technical team, see Imama as a key figure capable of restoring the club’s competitive edge in the NPFL.
An official announcement is expected in the coming days, pending final details between clubs.
