Kano Pillars have opened formal discussions with veteran coach Gbenga Ogunbote as they continue their search for a new head coach, MikeThePundit has reported.
The Sai Masu Gida hierarchy turned to Ogunbote after failing to secure the services of Imama Amapakabo, who has opted to remain with Abia Warriors. Imama is understood to have received a matching offer from the Abia State government, prompting his decision to stay.
Ogunbote, who was recently relieved of his duties at Shooting Stars, is now a leading candidate for the Pillars job, with negotiations said to be progressing positively.
Meanwhile, following Ogunbote’s departure from Shooting Stars, a major restructuring is underway at the Ibadan-based club. The club is set to announce a new Chief Operating Officer who will resume with immediate effect.
In addition to the COO, a new head coach will be appointed alongside an entirely new technical crew. A new Sporting Director and a revamped Media Team structure are also part of the overhaul.
The changes mark a significant shift in the club's operational direction as they seek improved performances in the upcoming season.
