Wikki Tourists FC have been handed a ₦3.75 million fine by the Nigeria National League (NNL) following a string of violent and disruptive actions during their Super 8 playoff final clash against Warri Wolves on 12 July 2025 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.
The NNL, in a letter addressed to the Bauchi State Football Association and Wikki Tourists FC, condemned the conduct of the club's officials and supporters, describing it as “unruly” and “below standard.” The letter was signed by the league's Chief Operating Officer, Danlami Alanana.
During the match, fans of the Bauchi-based club were reported to have thrown objects at Assistant Referee II and onto the pitch, creating a tense atmosphere that threatened the safety of players, match officials, and spectators.
Matters escalated after the final whistle when Wikki Tourists’ supporters invaded the pitch, reportedly attempting to confront NNL staff and match officials. The incident caused widespread panic in the stadium and disrupted the conclusion of what was supposed to be a prestigious playoff final.
In accordance with Articles 16.1.1 and 27.1 of the NNL rule book, the league has imposed the following sanctions on Wikki Tourists:
- ₦1,000,000 for general disturbances caused by supporters and officials
- ₦2,000,000 for acts of intimidation, harassment, object-throwing, and pitch invasion
- ₦750,000 for damage to stadium infrastructure, including pitch panels and advertising materials
The club has been given 24 hours to either accept the penalties or lodge a formal appeal.
“The actions of your supporters really jeopardised the beauty and glamour of a reputable final of the competition of that magnitude,” Alanana stated in the disciplinary notice.
