Rivers United began their preseason preparations for the 2025/2026 NPFL campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over Cynosure FC in a friendly match played this morning at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium training Pitch.
The only goal of the encounter came in the 66th minute, courtesy of forward Samson Obi. His strike secured the win for the Port Harcourt-based side in what was a closely contested fixture.
According to Rivers United FC Media, the match provided valuable playing time for the squad as they gear up for the new league season. It also served as an opportunity for the technical crew to assess the team’s readiness and fitness levels.
The day held additional significance as midfielder Osimaga Duke celebrated his birthday with the squad after the match. The club extended warm wishes to him, praising his commitment and impact in midfield.
Rivers United are set to continue their preseason schedule with another friendly at the same venue this Saturday.
