Enyimba Secure Second Straight Win in Tico/Select Tournament

Enyimba FC extended their fine form in the Ifeanyi Ekwueme Tico/Select Preseason Tournament with a convincing 2-0 win over Excellent FC on Monday.

Despite dominating the first half, the People’s Elephant were unable to break the deadlock, squandering numerous chances. Forward Issa Mohammed was particularly guilty, missing two clear-cut opportunities.

Enyimba started the second half with purpose and quickly stamped their authority. The breakthrough came when Muneeb Odufeso was fouled in the box, and new signing Abraham Chidera Michael calmly converted the resulting penalty. It was his third goal in two matches.

Substitutes Ididiong Ezekiel and the lively Nwaolisa added energy to Enyimba’s attack. Their impact was immediate, with Ididiong netting his first goal of the tournament to double the lead.

Efforts to increase the scoreline were foiled by wasteful finishing and the excellent goalkeeping display from the Excellent FC shot-stopper.

Speaking after the match, Enyimba’s Technical Adviser, Stanley Eguma, said the team is still a work in progress. He commended the opposition for their resilience and praised his side’s improving chemistry.

“We are still integrating new players after some departures from last season. The team will get better, especially in converting chances,” Eguma stated.

Enyimba will face KMK FA in their next fixture of the tournament at 4pm.
