Enyimba U19 began their NPFL Youth League campaign with a narrow 3-2 defeat to Lobi Stars U19 in an exciting encounter at the Isiala Ngwa Stadium.

The visitors made an early statement, opening the scoring in the 3rd minute after capitalising on a rebound from the Enyimba goalkeeper. The Young Elephants responded in the 18th minute through Kelechi Mba, whose powerful strike from outside the box levelled the contest.
However, Lobi Stars restored their lead in the 36th minute, punishing a lapse in concentration in Enyimba’s defence to take a 2-1 advantage into the break.

Just five minutes into the second half, a swift counter-attack saw Lobi extend their lead to 3-1. Enyimba reduced the deficit in the 68th minute when Nelson Sule curled home a superb free-kick from 18 metres. Despite piling on late pressure, the equaliser proved elusive.
The defeat leaves Enyimba searching for a response in their next group match, while Lobi Stars secured a strong start to their campaign with all three points.
