The 2025 Nationwide League One (NLO) U19 Youth League will kick off on Friday, 8 August, with an all-Abuja clash between G Medix FC and Olympic Hybrid FC at the Hovel Prime Stadium, Nyanya.
Dubbed the 'Abuja Derby', the encounter marks the start of what promises to be an exciting season of grassroots football across Nigeria. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 PM.
This season’s matches will take place at 16 different venues nationwide, providing a platform for emerging football talents to display their abilities and take steps towards professional success.
Football fans in and around Mopol Junction, Nyanya, are encouraged to attend the opening fixture and witness the next generation of Nigerian stars in action.
Speaking ahead of the season opener, Olushola Ogunnowo, Chief Operating Officer of the NLO, stressed the importance of the Youth League in the development of Nigerian football.
“The NLO Youth League launches on Friday, August 8, in Abuja, featuring G Medix FC against Olympic Hybrid FC. This not only marks the league's opening game, but we expect nothing less than exciting football in Nyanya,” Ogunnowo said.
He also emphasised the league's expectations for clubs to maintain high standards throughout the competition.
“We demand to see well-organised and competitive matches from all clubs participating in the Youth League. The clubs have adhered to directives from the secretariat, but there remains room for improvement. Any actions that jeopardise the integrity of the game will not be tolerated,” he added.
