Wikki Tourists FC Technical Adviser, Abdu Maikaba, has praised his players’ effort despite their 2-0 defeat to Kano Pillars in the semi final of the 2025 GusauAhlan Preseason Tournament in Lafia.
The match was a closely fought contest, with Wikki Tourists creating several scoring chances but failing to convert. Kano Pillars took advantage of two decisive moments, including a penalty, to seal their place in the final.
“We lost, but it was not in disgrace. My boys played a good game, but luck deserted us at crucial moments,” Maikaba told WTFC Media. He added that the tournament offered valuable opportunities to assess new signings and work on tactical adjustments ahead of the new season.
The experienced coach described the preseason as a vital platform for testing strategies, evaluating player combinations, and building team chemistry.
Wikki Tourists will now turn their attention to the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League, where they will open their campaign at home against Plateau United on Friday, 22 August 2025, at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi.
