Shooting Stars SC honoured their late Assistant Coach, Akin Olowokere, with a touching tribute during their ValueJet Cup match against Abia Warriors on Wednesday, 13 August 2025.
A minute’s silence was observed before kick-off at the stadium, as players and officials from both sides stood together to remember Olowokere, who passed away on Monday, 11 August 2015. The atmosphere was one of deep respect, with fans joining in the solemn moment.
In the match, Chukwudi’s first equaliser for the Oluyole Warriors was celebrated in a special way, as the team held up a shirt bearing Olowokere’s name in honour of his service and impact on the club.
The game ended 2-2, but the occasion was about more than football. For Shooting Stars, it was a day to remember a man whose influence extended far beyond the touchline.
