Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan have made history by setting a new benchmark for matchday ticketing revenue in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
In their opening fixture of the 2025 season against Bayelsa United at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, the Oluyole Warriors generated an unprecedented ₦4.8 million from gate takings. This figure more than doubles the ₦2.2 million record set by the club last season.
The milestone is credited to the leadership of club chairman Hon. Taiwo Lekan-Salami and Chief Operating Officer Mr. Bunmi Fadayomi, whose reforms have plugged revenue leakages and improved transparency in the ticketing system, ensuring greater returns for the Oyo State Government.
Acknowledgement has also gone to the loyal fans and the entire Ibadan football community for turning out in large numbers to cheer their team. Their strong presence not only lifted the players on the pitch but also contributed significantly to this landmark achievement.
This record-breaking performance positions Shooting Stars as a model for improved matchday operations in Nigerian football, reflecting their commitment to excellence both on and off the field.
