El-Kanemi Warriors Football Club received a warm reception in Potiskum on Sunday, 17 August 2025, from the Chairman of Yobe Desert FC, Alhaji Sarkiyo, Sarki Goma Zamani Goma, as they made their return journey to Maiduguri.
According to a statement issued by El-Kanemi Warriors Media Officer, Gaga, the Kabiru Dogo-led squad was commended for their impressive performances in recent preseason friendly matches. In recognition, Alhaji Sarkiyo donated ₦200,000 in cash to the players and technical crew.
Beyond the financial support, the Yobe Desert FC Chairman also provided meat, drinks, and bread for the entire El-Kanemi Warriors contingent, reflecting a spirit of unity and hospitality between the two clubs.
Reacting to the gesture, El-Kanemi Warriors Chairman, Malam Ibrahim Mainu Mustapha, expressed gratitude, noting:
“Thank you, Mr. Chairman. What you have done is a reflection of the deep-rooted hospitality we grew up with in Borno and Yobe. In Sha Allah, this relationship will continue to grow stronger for many years to come.”
The players and staff of El-Kanemi Warriors were said to be visibly delighted by the support, which further highlights the bond between both clubs in the North-East.
