Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Ilorin FC has unveiled Coach Yusuf Salihu as the club’s new head coach ahead of the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
The unveiling ceremony was held at the Taiwo Awoniyi Media Sports Centre, Kwara SWAN Secretariat, George Innih Stadium, Ilorin.
Coach Salihu, while addressing the gathering, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and shared his vision for the team.
“Football is teamwork, and that’s why it remains a collective game, I can’t do it alone. With unity, commitment, and the support of the management and stakeholders, we will succeed.
“My vision is to build a vibrant, formidable, and disciplined team that can compete with any club in Nigeria and beyond, win laurels, and take ABS FC to greater heights,” he said.
ABS Director of Football, Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, also spoke at the event, stressing the importance of encouraging homegrown coaches. He referenced Coach Tunde Sani’s recent success in the President Federation Cup with Kwara United, noting that opportunities given to indigenous coaches often lead to great results.
The club’s management assured supporters of their confidence in Salihu’s ability to lead the team into a new era. Fans and stakeholders were urged to give maximum support to the coach and players as they prepare for the new season.
Founded with a mission to nurture young talent and promote football development, ABS Ilorin FC has consistently produced players who make an impact both locally and internationally, in line with the vision of the owner, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
With Salihu’s appointment, the club is looking forward to an exciting campaign in the 2025/2026 NNL season.
