Coach Sanni Vows Kwara United Will Treat Kun Khalifa Clash with Full Seriousness

Kwara United will today, Sunday, 7 September 2025, host Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) debutants Kun Khalifa FC at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl of the George Innih Stadium, Ilorin. The fixture is scheduled to kick off at 4:00pm.

The Harmony Boys will be aiming to return to winning ways following their narrow 1–0 loss to Rivers United in Port Harcourt on Matchday 2. Training sessions in Ilorin this week have reflected renewed intensity and tactical adjustments as the team looks to secure its first home victory of the season.

This encounter marks the first-ever meeting between Kwara United and Kun Khalifa FC. Head Coach Tunde Sanni stressed that his side will treat the fixture with full seriousness despite facing league newcomers.

“We are approaching this fixture with the seriousness it deserves. Our focus is to deliver a strong performance and start picking points without delay,” Sanni stated.

The coach is set to make adjustments to his starting line-up, with Junior Aimufua, Akanni Akeem, and Saheed Olaniyi all declared fit. Nurudeen Badmus and Afeez Bankole have also rejoined the squad after completing national duty at the African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Having drawn their opener against Ikorodu City and fallen to Rivers United, Kwara United will be eager to reignite their campaign in front of their home supporters.
