Exclusive reports confirm that Kwara United will depart Nigeria on Wednesday, 17 September, for Ghana as they prepare to face Asante Kotoko in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup first preliminary round.
The Harmony Boys are expected to travel with a 27-man contingent, including 20 players and seven officials. The team will leave through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The much-anticipated fixture is scheduled for Sunday, 21 September, at 3 p.m. (WAT). It marks Kwara United’s return to continental football.
Asante Kotoko, two-time African champions, will host the first leg in Kumasi, with the return fixture set to be played in Nigeria. The aggregate winner will advance to the next round of the Confederation Cup qualifiers.
Kwara United, who earned their place on the continent following the 2025 President Federation Cup triumph in Lagos on Saturday, 28 June 2025, are aiming to make a statement by advancing beyond the opening round. The trip to Ghana represents a crucial step in their quest for success in this year’s competition.
