Wikki Tourists maintained their unbeaten run in the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Abia Warriors at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.
Substitute Jonathan Mairiga proved the hero of the day, striking in the 78th minute after connecting with Saifullahi’s assist to seal all three points for the hosts.
Speaking after the match, Wikki Tourists head coach Abdu Maikaba admitted it was a stern test for his side.
“This was a big test for us. Abia Warriors are a continental team with experience and structure. I didn’t expect it to be easy, but my boys were disciplined and showed real character. They earned this win,” Maikaba said.
The victory lifts Wikki Tourists to second place on the NPFL log as they continue their strong start to the campaign.
