Nasarawa United head coach, Mangut Mbwas, has praised his players after they secured a crucial away point in their goalless draw against Enyimba on match-day three of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
Speaking after the encounter at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, Mbwas said both teams showed quality but his side executed their game plan effectively.
"It's a game that both teams gave a good account of themselves," the coach stated. "We both had our playing and scoring chances. We were lucky to have been able to absorb a very strong side. We created some chances but couldn't take the opportunities."
The Solid Miners came into the fixture on the back of a 1-0 victory against Abia Warriors, and Mbwas revealed he had urged his players to stay composed.
"Before we came here, I told my players to be more relaxed, noting that Enyimba should be more under pressure, not us, because they are home and looking for the maximum points," he explained. "Our game plan worked out for us and at the end of the day, we shared the spoils."
Mbwas described the result as a huge boost for Nasarawa United early in the campaign, stressing the importance of every point, particularly against strong opponents.
"This result is massive for us, even though the league is just starting. Every point counts, and it's even more important if it's against a strong team like Enyimba who have won the CAF Champions League twice before. We keep improving in each game, and I am glad about that."
The Solid Miners, now 11th on the table with four points from three matches, will next host Wikki Tourists in Lafia on Sunday, 14 September 2025.
