The Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) has confirmed that the official draw for the 2025 NWFL Championship will be held on Wednesday, 3 September 2025, at 1:00 PM. The event will take place at the NWFL Secretariat Office in Abuja and will be streamed live online to ensure transparency and wider participation.
According to NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, the draw will see 17 clubs divided into four groups. The winners of each group will automatically secure promotion to the 2025/2026 NWFL Premiership season.
The Championship, scheduled to run from 11 to 21 September in Abia State, is a key pathway for clubs aspiring to reach the elite tier of women’s football in Nigeria. The NWFL Secretariat has urged all participating clubs to ensure proper representation during the draw ceremony, describing it as a crucial step in preparations for the competition.
A dedicated livestream link will be shared with stakeholders and media representatives ahead of the event.
The NWFL reaffirmed its commitment to promoting professionalism, fairness, and inclusivity in women’s football as it prepares for what promises to be another exciting edition of the Championship.
