NWFL Confirms New Date and Venue for 2025 Nationwide Championship



The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has confirmed that the 2025 NWFL Nationwide Championship will now take place from 10 to 17 October 2025 at the Bwari Township Stadium in Abuja.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, 1 October 2025, the NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, revealed that ten clubs will compete in the tournament, divided into two groups of five. She described the competition as a crucial stage for developing clubs aspiring to move up the league ranks.

“The Nationwide competition remains a vital platform for clubs across the country to showcase their potential and progress through the league system. We are committed to ensuring it is competitive, transparent, and successful,” Shabi stated.

According to the schedule, teams will arrive on 10 October for a pre-match technical meeting, with matches kicking off the following day. Fixtures will continue on 13, 14, 16, and 17 October, while 12 and 15 October will serve as rest days.

Highlighting the competition’s significance for women’s football development in Nigeria, Shabi explained that the top two teams from each group will gain promotion to the NWFL Championship.

“At the end of the tournament, the two best teams from each group will be promoted to the NWFL Championship, which is a huge motivation for all the participating clubs,” she added.

Group A consists of Osklean FC (Rivers), Rangers Women FC (Enugu), Plateau Queens FC (Plateau), DreamStars Ladies FC (Lagos), and C2E Sports Academy (Abia).
Group B includes Sporting Angels FC (Rivers), Alexander Queens FC (Enugu), Rosaria Victrix FC (Imo), NAF Queens FC (Abuja), and Solo Wonders FC (Akwa Ibom).

Shabi concluded by wishing all participating teams success and expressing optimism for an exciting week of women’s football in the Federal Capital Territory.
