The Confederation of African Football has officially announced the dates and format for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will take place from 19 June to 18 July 2027.
The tournament will be hosted jointly by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, with all three nations automatically qualifying for the finals.
A total of 13 groups will be formed in the qualification stage. The winners of each group will secure direct qualification to AFCON 2027, alongside the three best runners-up.
The remaining runners-up will enter a playoff round in November 2026, where they will compete for the final remaining tournament places.
The qualifiers are scheduled to take place in March, September, and October 2026, with the playoffs following in November.
East Africa is preparing to welcome the continent’s top footballing nations in what promises to be an exciting and competitive tournament.
