Niger Tornadoes midfielder Ani Chigozie says he is fully prepared for Sunday’s NPFL Matchday 14 showdown with Rangers International at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
The Minna side has enjoyed a strong start to the campaign and currently sits fifth on the table. They have picked up one win and a draw away from home and remain the league’s highest scoring team with 17 goals, a tally that underlines their attacking strength.
Chigozie, who hails from Enugu, could not hide his excitement about returning to familiar ground. He described the fixture as a special moment. He said he was delighted to be back in his hometown and to face the club he refers to as his Fatherland team.
Since joining Tornadoes from Enyimba, the midfielder has been a key figure in the squad. He said he intends to maintain his energy and commitment as the team pushes for another positive outing. He added that it is always a great feeling to play against one of Nigeria’s most successful clubs.
The Enugu-born player said the team will approach the encounter with calmness and focus. According to him, nothing changes and they will step onto the pitch to do what they know best.
Tornadoes won last season’s corresponding fixture 2-1 in Enugu, and Chigozie believes they are capable of securing another favourable result despite Rangers’ improved form. Majin Mohammed’s team has amassed 20 points this season, while Rangers are in seventh place with 19 points from 13 matches.
