Bendel Insurance reignited their season with a hard-earned 3-2 victory over Kano Pillars in a thrilling Nigeria Premier Football League encounter on Saturday.
The triumph is the first for the Benin Arsenals under new technical adviser Kennedy Boboye, who had endured a difficult start with three losses and a draw from his opening four matches. Pillars, on the other hand, continue to search for their first win since the arrival of coach Mohammed Babaganaru.
Kayode Oke gave Insurance an early boost with a composed finish in the 17th minute. Kano Pillars responded through Rabiu Ali, who converted from the spot in the 34th minute to restore parity.
Four minutes later, Chiedozie Okorie fired Pillars ahead as the visitors took control of the contest. Insurance refused to fold and found their way back when Emmanuel Dung struck 15 minutes from time to set up a tense finale.
The decisive moment arrived in stoppage time as Akpan Emmanuel pounced to secure all three points for Boboye's side, sparking celebrations among the home supporters.
