Pyramids FC face a major setback ahead of their CAF Champions League clash with Rivers United on Saturday in Cairo, as several key players have been ruled out or are doubtful for the encounter.
The African champions will host the Nigerian side without three important first-team stars. Ramadan Sobhi, Osama Galal and Mostafa Fathi have all been sidelined with injuries and will not feature in the group stage fixture.
Their problems may extend further, with Moroccan full-back Mohamed Chibi and DR Congo striker Fiston Mayele facing uncertainty. Both players only returned to training on Friday evening after attending the CAF Awards ceremony in Marrakech earlier in the week, leaving their readiness in doubt.
Despite the disruptions, Pyramids FC will look to make their home advantage count as they push for maximum points. Rivers United, however, will see this as an opportunity to strike and strengthen their position in the group with a valuable result away from home.
