Coach Bashir Sale: “Thank God it ended in a draw though it was not the result we prepared for”

Wikki Tourists secured a late 1–1 draw against Bayelsa United in a fiercely contested NPFL match at the ATBS Stadium in Bauchi on 23 November 2025.

Bayelsa United shocked the home fans early, scoring in the 7th minute to take an immediate lead. The visitors proved difficult to break down, forcing Wikki Tourists into a determined chase for most of the game.

Nasiru Jibrin rose to the occasion in the 85th minute, scoring a vital equaliser to rescue a point and prevent a home defeat.

After the match, Chief Coach Bashir Sale acknowledged the difficulty of the encounter, especially coming off a hard-fought away win against Enyimba the previous weekend.

“Thank God that it ended in a draw, though it was not the result we prepared for,” he said.

Sale praised his players for their determination and called on fans to continue supporting the team. He also commended the large crowd that turned out in Bauchi to back Wikki Tourists.

The point earned leaves Wikki Tourists in seventh place on the league table. The team now shifts focus to their next challenge away at Bendel Insurance in Benin City next Saturday.
