Ekiti United FC began their season on a high note with a 1-0 victory over Stormers FC at Oluyemi Kayode Stadium last Sunday.
Coach Bolarinwa Idris praised his players for their discipline and adherence to the game plan, especially in the second half. He said, “My boys followed the game plan, especially in the second half, and thankfully it resulted in a goal.”
The home team showed early promise, controlling possession and creating chances, but it was not until 50 minutes that Oluwasegun Ajengele scored the decisive goal following two strategic substitutions that introduced fresh attackers.
Idris also took time to thank the Ekiti State government for their ongoing support of the club. Looking ahead, he reminded fans that Ekiti United will travel to face Calabar Rovers this weekend and encouraged continued support.
Oluwasegun Ajengele’s match-winning strike earned him the Man of the Match award as Ekiti United secured their first three points of the campaign with a solid defensive display in the closing stages.
The victory has boosted the team's confidence as they prepare for their upcoming away fixture.
