Pacesetter Queens of Oyo State made their Nigeria Women Football League debut on Wednesday with a valiant display in a 2–0 defeat to Adamawa Queens at the Makwada Stadium.
Coach Hakeem Busari’s side conceded a goal in each half but maintained their intensity throughout the match. Despite the setback, the debutants created several promising chances as they pushed for a response, highlighting the potential and hunger within the squad.
Their determination, discipline and fighting spirit earned praise, even as the result slipped away. The focus now shifts to tightening the final third and building on the positives shown in their first top-flight outing.
Pacesetter Queens are placed in a challenging group that includes Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens, Ekiti Queens, Heartland Queens, Ibom Angels, Naija Ratels and Rivers Angels. The campaign is still in its early stages and the team believes it has the tools to grow stronger.
Attention now turns to next Wednesday when they travel for another away fixture against Ibom Angels. It offers a chance to respond quickly, regain momentum and make a firm statement in the league.
