Rivers United Stunned Late as RS Berkane Snatch Dramatic Win in Uyo

Rivers United collapsed to a painful 2-1 defeat against visiting RS Berkane in their CAF Champions League match day two fixture after conceding two late goals in stoppage time.

The Nigerian side appeared to be cruising to victory when they took the lead in the 38th minute. Berkane defender Mamadou Lamine Camara inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, handing Rivers United a deserved advantage. The hosts defended with determination and maintained their lead throughout normal time.

Seven minutes of added time were signalled and Rivers United attempted to manage the game. However, the plan backfired as the visitors mounted intense pressure. In the seventh minute of added time, Youness El Kaabi reacted quickest to a loose ball from a free kick and levelled the score.

Moments later, the Moroccans completed the comeback. Mounir Chouiar tucked in the winner after an initial effort struck the post, leaving Rivers United stunned.

The defeat leaves Rivers United struggling at the bottom end of the Group A standings, with plenty of work ahead in the remaining fixtures.
