The Nigeria Premier Football League has opened an investigation into Ikorodu City after Plateau United filed a petition alleging several breaches of league rules during and around their Matchday 13 fixture in Lagos last Sunday.
According to the petition, Plateau United accused Ikorodu City of disrupting their training session before the match, failing to obey directives issued by the Lagos State Football Association and not providing the required level of security on matchday. The club is also alleged to have allowed harassment, intimidation and physical assault on Plateau United players and officials within the stadium premises.
There are further claims that the misconduct was allegedly influenced by senior officials of Ikorodu City.
The NPFL has directed Ikorodu City to submit a written response to every allegation within 48 hours of receiving the notification. The league body stated that failure to respond within the given timeframe would be interpreted as acceptance of the claims, a situation that could trigger sanctions as outlined in the NPFL Framework and Rules.
